Counting down....

Only two months to go and still a lot of preparation ahead. Hundreds of enquiries and applications for ranger positions have been arriving, but sadly a lot have been rejected simply for not completing the application form. We obviously didn't make our instructions clear enough - something to remember for next year. This week we are going to Fogo to have a short break but also to meet people from the town hall to see what we can do to help them save the turtles on their island. Fogo is a small island that mostly consists of a volcano. There are some black sand beaches but at this stage I have no idea how many turtles nest there. They seem to have a big problem with hunting and also with sand removal for construction.
